Michael J. Mazzola, Senior Advisor

Michael is an independent consultant focused on private equity and other alternative investments, providing advisory services to institutional clients.  Michael was Senior Vice President and Head of Alternative Investments at MetLife, Inc., where he oversaw an $8 billion portfolio of private equity and hedge fund limited partnership investments and a portfolio of direct debt and equity investments in U.S-based middle market leveraged buyouts.  During his 20-year career at MetLife, he managed a broad range of private equity and private credit investments, including direct investments.  Michael has a long history supporting the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA), the leading global association for private equity fund limited partners, having served as Board Chair and Interim CEO.  Michael currently serves as dean of faculty for the ILPA Institute, designing curriculum and teaching professional education courses to its members globally.

Michael graduated from the Simon School at the University of Rochester in 1985, earning an M.B.A. in Public Accounting and Finance, and from New College of Florida, earning a B.A. in Economics in 1983.  Earlier in his career, Michael was a Certified Public Accountant in New York City and Boston for Coopers & Lybrand, now part of PwC.
