Sajan Thomas, President & CEO

Sajan Thomas founded Thomas Capital Group in 1997 to provide full service, value added strategic and fundraising assistance to private equity and other alternative asset managers and financial institutions. He has built the firm with professionals who possess strong investment/deal skills as well as marketing and client relationship experiences. Sajan is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the firm. He is also the primary relationship manager for the firm's clients and plays a key role in helping properly structure and position clients' funds in the market place. A significant portion of Sajan's time is dedicated to developing deep relationships with institutional investors around the world and in marketing clients' funds and services. Sajan brings extensive private equity investment and marketing experiences to Thomas Capital Group.
Before forming Thomas Capital Group, Sajan was a Managing Director at Frank Russell Capital, where he played a key role in the firm's worldwide private equity business. During his tenure with Russell Capital, the firm co-sponsored four funds (two in Asia, one in Poland and one Global) with over $2 billion in commitments. Sajan assisted in structuring these partners as well as raising funds from investors. Sajan also helped develop and evaluate new private equity products/services offered by Russell. Prior to joining Russell, Sajan spent seven years at the Prudential, where he had investment, portfolio, and strategic responsibilities at various merchant banking and investment units. At Prudential, Sajan was involved in over $2 billion of private equity and debt transactions. These included buyouts, workouts, restructurings and private placements. He was also responsible for Prudential's first investment in Eastern Europe and developed the business plan for a merchant bank in Mexico and Latin America. His last role was as Vice President at Prudential Asset Management Group, where he assisted in the strategic restructuring of Prudential's $100+ billion asset management business.
A Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst, Sajan earned an M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a B.B.A. magna cum laude from James Madison University. He holds series 7, 63, 79 and 24 registrations. Sajan previously served as an Executive Board Member of the Wharton Alumni Association and of the Dean's Executive Advisory Committee at James Madison University's College of Business.
